If you're looking to buy a new power tool such as a drill or saw, there's one big decision to factor in. That's whether to get a corded or cordless model. There are benefits and disadvantages of both options. Here's some points to think about when shopping.

The first option that most people consider is cordless. There are a lot of immediate benefits to having a cordless power tool. The most obvious is that you don't have to mess around with a cord. Depending on where you are working in your house, it can be difficult to find an empty plug to use. Cordless models let you move around without worrying about finding a plug. This is fantastic if you are doing several home improvement jobs at the same time. You don't have to keep plugging and unplugging the cord when moving between inside and outside jobs.

Cordless tools also have a few downsides. Charging the battery is a major complaint. A dead battery pack can take several hours to fully recharge. Unless you plan ahead, this can put a wrinkle in you home fix it plans. Also, battery packs tend to lose capacity over time and eventually won't hold a decent charge. When looking at cordless tools, you should factor in the price of spare batteries.

Moving on to corded tools, the biggest advantage is not having to mess around with battery packs. Just plug it in and you've got full power immediately. Corded tools are also usually less expensive than their cordless counterparts. If you are only planning to do projects inside or near power outlets, a corded model may suit your needs.
The hottest power tool on the market right now is a mini circular saw. These are very handy and can tackle a bunch of projects around your home. Find out more about them at http://www.minicircularsaw.com.
